Land Rover LR2 Roof Rack w/ Paddle Board Carrier

August 18, 2010

Rack Attack Team

Within the rack world there are typically multiple options for the base rack system on any given vehicle. This, however, is not the case within the Land Rover LR2 series. Luckily, Thule makes a great rack that will work perfectly and make for another awesome addition to an already awesome vehicle!

Due to the fact that the LR2 has an enormous sunroof that takes up most of the space on the roof there are only a few spots on the roof that the Thule 480 Traverse Towers can be placed. With Thule’s Fit Kit #1443 the rack clips perfectly to the seams underneath the door jam to hold the rack securely in place while not interfering with the sunroof.

To make the rack a bit quieter and aerodynamic, not to mention much better looking, this customer decided to go with a system that uses Thule's Aerobars. The Aerobars are oval in design as opposed to Thule's square load bars which gives them a much more aero look to fit that of your vehicle. Because of the aerodynamic shape of the bars it also will eliminate most or all of the typical howling noise that a roof rack makes.

To top off the whole system we installed Thule's Hang 2 Surf Carrier. The Hang 2 is perfect for carrying most surfboards, wind surfers, and, in this case, stand up paddle boards. It uses 4 mounting brackets that install directly to most crossbars that are rubber coated to hold the board(s) in place. The Hang 2 is a far superior product for carrying surf/paddle boards than the old foam rack pads because the Hang 2 is designed to keep everything in place and protect the quality of not only your board, but your vehicle and brand new rack as well.

Please call or stop in at any of Rack Attacks 9 locations throughout the US and Canada for more information about the Hang 2, or any other accessories you may be interested in. We'd be happy to set you up with an awesome rack just like the one on this Landrover LR2!
