Storing your cargo box and skis at home

February 2, 2012

Rack Attack Team

Most people recognize Rack Attack as the place to go when you need a solution for carrying sporting goods like skis, bikes, and cargo boxes on your vehicle.

However, we also provide a number of products to help you easily organize these accessories in your home. We offer a range of different styles of storage solutions that can be used throughout your garage or home, including freestanding, wall mounted, ceiling mounted and even concrete mounted products.

Part 1: Boxes and Skis

Cargo Boxes:

One of our most popular storage solutions is the Thule 571 Box Lift.

This is a crank, gear, and pulley system that is great for storing your cargo box, and it does so in a convenient place ?up against the rafters or ceiling in your garage or home. The cargo box is loaded onto the rope at waist level or off the roof rack of your car, and then by turning a crank the box rises vertically. This is a popular option, especially in Toronto, where storage space is at a premium. This product allows the owner to turn previously unused space into easy, new storage space. As a bonus, this storage lift can also work for storing canoes, kayaks, sailboards, ladders and the like (within its weight limit of 100kg or 220 lbs.).

Yakima also makes a wall-mounted Cargo Box Hanger that you can store their boxes on. It basically adds a small Yakima round bar to your wall, and with a 200 lb. capacity can accommodate many of Yakima's accessories.

It fits Yakima cargo boxes with their Quick Clamp mounting hardware, and retails for $55. This item is not available on our website, so please call us for availability

Racor also has a wall-mounted solution for snowboards: the Allboard Rack, which can double as a skateboard and wakeboard holder in the off-season.
