Rack Attack Team
Recently we had a customer with a brand new 2012 4 Door Jeep Wrangler wanting a heavy duty rack for hauling around luggage and all sorts of heavy items. One of the options he was really interested in is the Garvin Expedition Rack. The Rack Attack Vancouver store is listed as one of the few authorized dealers in Canada.
This rack boasts a long cargo basket fully suspended by 4 uprights, so that means nothing is resting or even touching the roof! So any top, soft hard or none at all will work with the rack! It rates at 300lbs weight capacity while the vehicle is in motion (on and off road) as well as 500lbs when the vehicle is stationary. This rack system is perfect for a roof top tent!
The front mounts use the existing factory weld nuts The rear mounts required drilling to add reinforced plates behind the body panel to ensure a heavy duty support.
This rack has the unique feature to be able to tilt the rack back to change the hard top to a soft top, vice versa or remove the top all together! The customer would need to only unbolt the front supports from the basket and disengage the rear mounts with the supplied wing-knobs. The customer chose to have us install the non-tilting mount, as he did not need that feature at this time. We also installed the license-plate re locator kit that came with the rack.
You can get many options for this rack, from wind deflectors, to gas/water can holders to rear ladders. This customer wanted easy access to the top basket, so we installed a rear ladder for him.
At Rack Attack, we not only install the standard Thule and Yakima systems, but we also sell and install unique systems like these Garvin Expedition Racks on Jeeps and other products!
