For 30 years, Rack Attack has helped customers gear up and explore more. From bike racks and cargo boxes to rooftop tents, truck accessories, and overlanding gear, we’ve spent three decades helping customers gear up with expert advice, trusted brands, and professional installation. What started in Vancouver in 1996 has grown into a North American retail footprint with 46 locations and over one million happy customers.
This anniversary is about more than a milestone. It is about the trips, upgrades, road trips, campsite setups, and everyday adventures Rack Attack has been part of along the way. We’re celebrating the memories and experiences our gear helps make possible.
A big part of that story started with our first store in Vancouver in 1996, built to help local adventurers carry more gear on vehicles that no longer came with the same rack-ready setups as before. In 1998, Rack Attack launched its ecommerce website well before buying gear like this online was the norm. Not long after, the brand expanded into the U.S. with its first American store in Denver in 1999. Today, that same spirit continues across a much larger footprint, including flagship store experiences in markets like Las Vegas and Seattle.

What began as a rack specialty retailer has evolved into a broader destination for roof racks, bike racks, ski and snowboard carriers, watersport racks, cargo boxes, rooftop tents, trailer hitches, overlanding gear, truck caps, tonneau covers, and more. Across our stores, customers can shop leading brands like Thule, Yakima, Kuat, RealTruck, SmartCap, iKamper, Rhino-Rack, and more.
This 30-year celebration is also about where Rack Attack is headed next. As more customers build their vehicles for work, travel, family, and off-grid adventure, the lineup keeps growing with them. That momentum is also showing up in the in-store experience. The expansion of RealTruck shop-in-shop locations across Rack Attack stores has become one of the biggest recent milestones for the brand, bringing more truck, overland, and adventure gear into our retail footprint. As this rollout continues this year, it represents an exciting next chapter for Rack Attack and gives customers an even stronger in-store experience, something we’re proud to highlight as part of this anniversary year.
Through all that growth, one thing has stayed the same: Rack Attack is built on expertise. Customers come to us for trusted brands and premium gear, but they stay because they know they’re getting real guidance from people who understand fit, function, and what makes a setup work. That hands-on knowledge has been part of the business from day one, and it still defines who we are today.
