2007 Toyota Tundra boat rack installation

Rack Attack Team

If you've ever taken a trip through the woods in northern Minnesota you know that hauling a trailer behind your pickup truck is almost not an option. The problem then is how to get your duck boat back to the secret spot that your neighbors dads buddy said has the most, biggest, and most beautiful birds this side of Arkansas? Well, here at Rack Attack not only can we get you a setup that will get you and your dogs out to the "honey hole," we can make you look pretty darn good while you're doing it.

Our customer stopped in today to get himself a roof rack that could handle a duck boat but still keep the cargo space in the bed for his gear as well as his dog kennel. We hooked him up with a really sweet setup that should have him out there in no time. We started off by putting some Yakima Q Towers on the cab portion of the truck to ensure that the bow had a stable place to rest and would not harm the vehicle itself. All it took was one pair of Q Towers coupled with a set of Q99 clips (specific for this vehicle) and a 66" Yakima crossbar and the cab was ready to go.

To create a crossbar over the bed of the truck we installed a Yakima Outdoorsman 300 compact. The side bars are mounted securely to the side of the bed to ensure a sturdy, bombproof crossbar.

To top off this hunters dream vehicle we added a set of Yakimas Mako saddles in the front so the boat has some stability when its pushing through the evergreens. The saddles have a raised piece of rubber when the straps are installed that will keep the boat from shimmying around at all. On the rear bar we placed the Yakima Hully Rollers, a system of 4 rollers that allow for much easier loading of the boat on the vehicle. The Hully Rollers act much like rollers that you've seen on a boat trailer in that they help guide the boat into position in the sweet Makos up front.

If you are an Outdoorsman (or woman!) that is looking for some solutions on how to get all of that gear out into the woods along with mans best friend feel free to call or stop by any of Rack Attacks 9 locations. We have many different options to suit any of your vehicles needs.
