Rack Attack Team
In our current eco-friendly world cars, vans, and even trucks and SUVs have gotten smaller and more aerodynamic, leading to less trips to the gas station and hopefully some more money in your pocketbook. Sometimes however these more economic vehicles can pose a problem when it comes to getting your "fun time accessories" from here to there. Lucky for you we at Rack Attack have solutions for nearly all of your "fun time" needs.
Our customer came in looking for a way to haul around his 2 full size bikes in the summer as well as a way to get his snowboards to the mountain in the winter. His car was a 2002 Honda Civic 2 door. The main problem when racking a 2 door vehicle is that the typical clip-style application will allow for very little distance between the 2 crossbars making a load unstable and in some cases impossible. Lucky for him we here at Rack Attack have the perfect solution for the 2 door blues. The Yakima Landing Pad custom roof top installation not only allows for a much greater spread between the 2 bars, but it also wont damage your vehicle in anyway due to over/under tightening of clips.
With the Yakima Landing Pad 6 permanently mounted on the roof of the vehicle not only can it be removed and reinstalled in a matter of minutes, but it can also hold up to 100 lbs. of cargo! To complete the base rack system we used Yakimas Control Towers as well as some 48" crossbars. To haul the bicycles he chose to use 2 of Yakimas Highroller upright bicycle carriers. The Highroller allows the bicycle to be loaded while leaving the front wheel on and stays in place by just tightening one knob and one ratchet strap. Because this is such a simple system to operate we used 6 Yakima lock cores to be sure that not only the bicycles, but the rack also stays in place.
To be sure he's all set for winter to get here he also decided to pick up Yakimas Fat Cat 6, a rooftop wintersports carrier than can carry up to 4 snowboards or 6 pairs of skis! Having a custom landing pad installations will be a benefit in the winter season as well, keeping the boards secured in place and not allowing them to bend or warp in the wind that sometimes comes with a Minnesotan blizzard.
If you're feeling the 2 door blues and need a remedy feel free to call or swing by and of Rack Attacks 9 locations throughout the US and Canada and have one of our trained rack professionals turn those 2 door blues in to some good ol' Rack n Roll!
